Home again

Back from Nottingham after a great weekend of gaming. Pity that Games Workshop seem to resent the effort that they put into Historical and now wish to pull the plug on events and supporting Warmaster Ancients in particular.
I'll sort some pics out tomorrow.

Day two

The commanders are gathering for a four-a-side Punic Wars game. Iain, Gareth, Dane and I are playing the Republican Romans. I've been allocated the right wing. Third game against Mongols

OK so the third game wasn't quite as good as the first two. The Mongels ran me ragged and broke my army but not my general. My death or glory charge with the Sassanid bodyguard and supporting Clibanari was at the wrong moment and resulted in more death than glory!
It was a good game all the same. BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop

Second game of the day

Just finished my second game and had a surprisingly big win against Gareth's Byzantines. BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop

First game of Warmaster

I've decided to use Sassanids. I'm playing the author if the rules Rick Priestly in the first game. BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop

Warmaster Historical this weekend

I'm heading for Nottingham to play Warmaster Ancients at the Historical Wargames Weekend being held at Games Workshop's HQ on the Lenton Industrial Estate.

It's always a good weekend but numbers are apparently down this time. So which army (armies) do I take? Not that it matters as none of my dice have a 6 on them when it comes to competitions so I'm unlikely to win! Mind you a matching loser's trophy would balance out the mantleplace!

There was much talk last weekend about entries, armies and possibilities. I think we may have a Punic Wars theme going so for me it must be Republican Romans.

I'm hoping to get a visit in to Warlord Games and Foundry Miniatures too - if I leave here early enough.

More pics from the 10mm Wars of the Roses game

Three wise monkeys - Steve, Gareth and Iain.
Not so sure about the wise part though.

That cornfield below Iain's hand was like a magnet for troops where they died gloriously!

Wars of the Roses

Thanks to Paul at Kallistra we had a great game yesterday. I say thanks, as Paul kindly loaned me a large number of his painted figures to use. Around 4000 figures by my calculation.

To use that many figures in a game you need good company and yesterday it was the best: some of my oldest (in terms of years known and age) friends were there as well as members of the Devizes and District Wargames Group. So thank you to Iain Dickie, Jim Brown, Paul Martin, Steve Morton, Gareth Harding, Martyn Powell, Ralph Elia, Paul Gallop and Jeff Guillon for coming along to play.

From Left to Right: Jim, Paul and Jeff - Yorkists all, or are they?
